Trailhead

Trailhead

Wellington Brewery, Guelph, Ontario, Canada - Vienna Lager
Tuesday 14 February 2012 – 4.5%Alc./Vol.    75 / 100

Initial Thoughts
Simple label. Artwork somehow reminiscent of that of the aboriginals of the Pacific Northwest. “Trailhead” sounds like a beer that you might drink at a campsite beside a river, or on a dock on a sunny cottage afternoon...
First Sip
Unimpressed. Looks like beer. Tastes like near beer. Not much to report. Not in love with it.
Halfway Through
A summer classic. Light, but not nearly as flavorless as I first thought. The marketing crew at Wellington have positioned this lager perfectly! Before opening the can I was thinking about clean air, wilderness, warm weather... Different enough for the gastronomic snobs while remaining neutral enough to not offend anyone.
Bottoms Up
Lo and behold, the contents of the can are ideal for a summertime thirst. This beer won’t make any enemies for you or itself for that matter. Perfect to surprise your barbecue guests with or to provide ballast to the vessel during and extended northern paddle. What will it pair well with? Hmm... If you find anything it doesn’t cooperate with let me know.
