Hockley Dark

Hockley Dark

Hockley Valley Brewing Co., Orangeville, Ontario, Canada Traditional English Ale
Thursday 16 February 2012 – 5%Alc./Vol.    77 / 100

Initial Thoughts
Nice traditional looking can... the word “traditional” at the top might have something to do with that impression... “Award Winning” too; impressive indeed!
First Sip
Terrific dark auburn colour, easy on the nose, nice malty mouthful of beer here. The head leaves me wanting though. At it’s peak it looked kinda soapy and dissipated very soon after the first sip.
Halfway Through
A pretty easy drinking dark ale. Loads of malt offset by a touch of bitterness to keep things true to the art. More than moderately enjoying this pint, to be honest.
Bottoms Up
Aside from Guinness, there are few “dark” beers that I would happily drink more than one of at a sitting. Hockley Dark is close but no exception. The big bold malt, light bitterness and moderate alcohol content make this a very satisfying ale all the same. Call it an entry level dark ale with a bit of muscle.
