Black Creek Stout

Hand Crafted Stout

Black Creek Historic Brewery, Toronto, Ontario, Canada - Stout
Wednesday 15 February 2012 – 5%Alc./Vol.    67 / 100

Initial Thoughts
Great looking bottle. Brown glass filled with blackish liquid. A paper label with an old-fashioned feel.
First Sip
Burnt. No, not quite burnt. A definite sense of fire having been involved. Dark cola colour. Smoky maybe, and bitter. Stoutly. Big, burly, bitter and burnt.
Halfway Through
The beer opens up as it warms, sweetness of the Charcoal...ahem...sorry... Chocolate Wheat malt peeking out from behind the burnt chestnut veil of this barroom brawler of a stout.
Bottoms Up
Not the sort of barroom combatant that will slide a blade between your ribs for looking sideways at his old lady, more like the friendly East Coaster who’ll happily trade fisticuffs before wrapping his arm around your shoulders and ordering you another pint. Unapologetically full-bodied, not for everyone, not for everyday. Think the ale cousin of strong, black coffee.
