Newcastle Brown Ale
Newcastle Federation Breweries Ltd, Dunston, England - Ale
Thursday 23 February 2012 – 4.7%Alc./Vol. 88 / 100
Initial Thoughts
The colour of liquid mahogany. A very nice looking ale, but considering my wife poured it I would have expected the head to be better...
First Sip
Oh hello my smooth, malty friend! English brewers have a knack for highlighting the most desirable features of the malt and hops in their products, and Newcastle Brown Ale is no exception.
Halfway Through
The beautiful brown colour of this beer is backed up by a fine example of malting. Bringing the whole thing together is the perfect balance provided by just the slightest bitterness of hops. Symphonic.
Bottoms Up
For a darker beer, this is one that I’d happily make an afternoon of. The first serving is delicious and friendly, and might easily entice one to partake of a second, and perhaps a third... Highly drinkable, very nice indeed.
