Molson Canadian

Molson Canadian

Molson Brewery, Toronto, Ontario, Canada - Lager
Wednesday 15 February 2012 – 5%Alc./Vol.    70 / 100

Initial Thoughts
The first “real beer” I could ever drink as a kid. Never really impressed to hear that it’s on tap. Bundled with a burger and fries for lunch? What the hell, sure... The glass was so cold the beer had developed a skin of ice completely lining the inside. Canada is a cold place. I suppose this is a good sign...
First Sip
The literal first sip is a bit disappointing, so cold that any flavor is muted by the slushy concoction. But within the first several sips I am struck by the incredible freshness of the keg! Cold, fresh tasting, balanced, crowd pleasing.
Halfway Through
Holding up really well, the cryogenically frozen glass is maintaining it’s end of the bargain, and since I eat pretty quickly the freshness is still hanging on...
Bottoms Up
By the end of the glass I have a renewed respect for a Canadian institution. Much like hockey, Molson Canadian is widely adored and at the same time disliked by significant numbers of Canadians too sophisticated for such low-brow indulgences... Cold. Amber hued. Tastes enough like beer. Really quite pleasing  as long as it’s fresh. Beside a plate of fries and a burger or a pile of wings, hockey or 3-down football on the tube, and this beer is really in it’s element.
