Highland Cask
Innis & Gunn, Edinburgh, Scotland - Oak Aged Beer
Friday 24 February 2012 – 7.1%Alc./Vol. 99.9 / 100
Initial Thoughts
My second Innis & Gunn product... Given the quality of the “Original” I’m really excited! Packed in a bottle inside a box, “Highland Cask” looks super premium. The beer itself is a little more brown where the Original might be called red...
First Sip
Well my, my... surprisingly, given the higher alcohol content, this is a smooth, delicious brew. Every bit the equivalent of it’s stablemates, only perhaps easier to drink if that’s possible...
Halfway Through
Terrific stuff. Loaded with the distinctive Innis & Gunn fit and finish; only the slightest hint of the whisky that aged the oak that aged the beer that was bottled and then found it’s way to my glass. Creamier, less weighty than the Original.
Bottoms Up
Brewing, aging and packaging excellence. Innis & Gunn are setting the bar for international brewers fantastically high. This particular product is good looking, yummy and highly drinkable. If only there were more than one bottle in each box... Thank you Innis & Gunn. Thank you very much indeed.
